Classical Friction, a collaboration of music and dance performance, commissioned by the Three Cities Create and Connect programme as part of Urban Beats, was performed to an audience of over 1000 people at three Melas in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby.
The piece was composed, choreographed and performed by a team of leading professionals including Peter Stacey, classical Welsh composer, Bobby Friction, Radio 1 British Asian DJ, choreographers Leonard Jackson and Balbir Singh, a troupe of six professional dancers and East Midlands classical orchestra Viva.
Audiences were both delighted and surprised as they observed a fusion of art and culture, the old and the new, seamlessly interwoven.
