In 2015 BSDC is launching an exciting opportunity to be part of developing the next generation of world class performers.
The company is seeking to raise £300,000 over the coming three years.
This will enable the company to extend its already highly successful Talent Development to an additional 50 individuals.
BSDC is currently developing work for international touring that will see the company grow significantly over the next three years.
The work exemplifies BSDC’s innovative approach, blending dance, music and storytelling to create memorable, high quality art experiences. Finding artists with the breadth of experience to work in this environment is one of the company’s biggest challenges.
The company’s Talent Development Programme will meet this challenge by identifying and nurturing the best creative talents the nation has to offer. The Programme
Paid apprentices undergo a rigorous mentoring programme under the guidance of artistic director Singh.
Balbir’s own twin training in contemporary and Kathak styles (by internationally celebrated Kathak guru Padmashri Pratap Pawar) ensures the programme meets the highest artistic standards.
Musicians receive mentoring from acclaimed Jazz/Indian classical musician and BSDC composer Jesse Bannister, while other disciplines are typically paired up with high level artists according to the specific project.
BSDC’s innovative collaborations with the sports world, with the health agenda and other unusual partnerships, make working with BSDC a rich, versatile and rounded learning ground, and mentees emerge from the Programme with the skills, experience and confidence to progress their careers.
The Programme supports talented recent graduates and emerging artists by:
• providing a vital ‘bridge’ into the industry
• substantially growing their creative range and professional confidence
• showcasing their talent on an international platform, performing in BSDC’s internationally toured work
Past beneficiaries have gone on to pursue highly successful careers in dance, both at home and internationally.
Over the coming three years, BSDC’s Talent Development Programme will significantly accelerate this process. We anticipate the social return on this increased investment will extend beyond BSDC itself, creating:
• a more diverse and vibrant dance ecology in the UK
• growing and retaining talent across the regions
• ensuring international representation of the best of British talent on the international stage
Your support will be recognised through a well developed package of benefits, which includes:
• opportunities for client entertainment
• personal contact with mentees
• be close to the creative process
• brand association
• employee engagement
• various forms of public recognition
