A Solo Duet

A new full length work with long time collaborators Sooraj Subramaniam and Abirami Eswar.

“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively outnumbers the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.”
Richard Dawkins, Unweaving The Rainbow

The Washing Line

The Washing Line is a new full length work being co-created with artists with lived experience, and Thomas and Guys Hospital INPUT Chronic Pain Unit.

Using a washing line (in both a literal and a metaphorical sense) the project will explore how we express ourselves through what we place on the line, from clothes to emotions.

Captured

With an initial development phase at Huddersfield Literature Festival, an interactive new work exploring the relationship and dialogue between photographer and dancer.

What happens if the camera becomes the centre piece of a performance?

How does the photographer navigate the space to capture what they need?

What elements pique their interest – The dancer? The human? The emotion? The dance style?

Everyone is a photographer nowadays with their phone. Through a series of interactive workshops and performances, Captured encourages participants to see dance through a new lens.
