With both diet and active lifestyles very much to the fore in the public consciousness, BSDC’s Love and Spice presents a perfect opportunity to combine an entertaining live performance with audience engagement around healthy eating and physical activity.
Partnering with NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers is an obvious starting point, though other partnerships with BME-led community organisations can also be envisaged. Other health-related themes can be woven into the work to respond to partner organisations’ key areas of activity.
In 2018/19 BSDC toured Love and Spice around a number of residential facilities throughout Leeds, supported by Leeds Inspired. The predominantly older audiences were drawn to the work’s rich, multi-sensory dimension, demonstrating its ability to connect with diverse audiences at many levels.
