Tough, passionate, moving, at times strange and even hilarious, the story of Rugby League is awash with incredible incidents that live on in the memories of fans and players alike.

Full Contact is an entertaining blend of story, music and dance that celebrates this shared history and brings the worlds of Rugby League and contemporary dance theatre into full, explosive contact.

Full Contact was originally commissioned by Leeds Inspired to celebrate the Rugby League World Cup 2013 and was performed at Leeds Library with Lofthouse Brass Band providing musical accompaniment.

To create the piece, choreographer Balbir Singh worked closely with members of the Rugby League and the wider local community, exploring the rich and often little known history that helped make the game – and the Rugby League community – what they are today.

Full Contact takes local people on a creative journey in which they the discover the part played Rugby League in the making of their own communities. In the process, it introduces new audiences to the performing arts – and to Rugby League itself.
